UNDERSTAND THE SERVICE
A clear scope. An informed next step.
Choose the programme that fits the facility. Entry-level certification, SHCO accreditation and hospital accreditation are distinct routes; they are not interchangeable certificates.
WHY YOUR HOSPITAL NEEDS THIS WORKING PARTNERSHIP
Make quality readiness useful to hospital leadership.
We coordinate gap reviews, action ownership, staff orientation and evidence follow-up, helping departments turn the agreed programme into everyday practice.
Use the relevant NABH status to strengthen eligibility for suitable payer relationships and support operating discipline across the hospital.
Pursue eligible insurance, corporate and government-panel opportunities where the relevant NABH status is a condition.
Check whether the applicable scheme or contract recognises the approved status through enhanced payment conditions.
Build referral and institutional relationships around independently assessed hospital-quality credentials.
Use standardised processes and audit findings to address avoidable resource waste and service rework.
NABH accreditation does not itself activate a panel or increase every tariff. Confirm the payer’s eligibility, rates and agreement before treating an opportunity as revenue.
The requirement depends on the programme, state, services and workforce model. References below support the regulatory overview; confirm the current notice and facility-specific applicability before applying.
Choose the correct route
The current hospital programme covers more than 50 sanctioned beds; SHCO serves facilities with 50 beds or fewer. Entry-level certification has a separate current programme. Check the programme page and transition notices before applying. [1][2][3]
Implement across the declared scope
Meet the selected programme requirements in actual practice, with current statutory permissions and demonstrable records. The HCO page specifies at least three months of internal implementation before application. [1]
Assessment and decision
NABH reviews applications and conducts the applicable assessments. Entry-level stages can include document review, on-site assessment, corrective-action review and a committee decision. A consultant cannot award the result. [4]
Choose the appropriate route
Pathway
What to check
Entry-level certification
Foundational programme; check its current edition and eligibility.
SHCO accreditation
Route for smaller healthcare organisations; use current programme criteria.
Hospital accreditation
HCO route for more than 50 sanctioned beds; current hospital standards and implementation requirements apply.
02 / VALUE FOR THE HOSPITAL
What stronger systems can support.
01
Patient and community trust
Independent assessment can strengthen confidence in the hospital’s quality and safety systems.
02
Consistent care systems
Standardised workflows support safer handovers, medication processes and patient rights.
03
Safety and infection-prevention focus
Audit and improvement cycles support attention to clinical risks and infection prevention.
04
Clear staff accountability
Defined roles, training and competency reviews strengthen implementation ownership.
05
Credible quality credentials
Accreditation offers evidence for partner discussions; every panel applies separate eligibility.
06
Sustained improvement
Indicators and management review help the hospital identify and act on recurring gaps.
Potential operational benefits depend on implementation and the hospital’s circumstances. No approval, saving, patient volume or payment outcome is guaranteed.
03 / PREPARE YOUR EVIDENCE
Documents to organise.
This is a preparation checklist. The official application or a facility-specific compliance review may require additional items. Keep patient records, worker identity documents and bank details out of the website enquiry form.
Facility legal identity, registration, sanctioned beds and service profile
Applicable fire, building, biomedical waste and service-specific permissions
Organisation chart, clinician registrations, credentials and privileges
Approved policies, SOPs, forms and document-control index
Training, competency, maintenance and calibration records
Conduct internal audits and management reviews, verify corrective actions and run a mock assessment.
05
Apply through the official route
The hospital approves factual declarations, submits the applicable online application and pays official charges.
06
Support assessment and closure
Prepare department teams, organise evidence and help answer observations through the official process.
07
Maintain the system
After the authority decision, track conditions, continuing reviews, surveillance and renewal requirements.
WHAT COMPLETION MEANS
The handover includes an evidence index, closed/open action register and continuing-review calendar. Certification or accreditation exists only after the formal NABH decision.
05 / SHARED ACCOUNTABILITY
Know who owns each action.

Costs, timing and common pitfalls.
HOW TO PLAN
Readiness-led, with milestones agreed after the gap assessment
Consulting fees depend on beds, services, sites, gaps and visits. Standards/guidebooks, application and assessment charges, travel and hospital improvements are itemised separately. Use the live programme fee schedule; no approval date is promised.
